FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does the flight last?
It is our goal to fly in the air for a full hour. There is no guarantee on this, because the actual landing time will depend on landing sites, wind, weather, sunset, and other variables. But we always try to fly as long as we can. All in all the entire experience from set up to take down will last about 3 1/2 hours.
What time of day do your flights take place?
We always fly either early in the morning at sunrise, or in the evening, just before sunset. The winds are generally more calm at those times of day. But even then, it is still possible for the wind or the weather to cause us to have to postpone a flight.
What happens if the flight is postponed?
When we postpone a flight it is generally because of poor weather. Although sometimes it may appear to be beautiful outside, the winds must be calm enough to assure your safety while flying. If the flight is postponed we will do our best to get you booked for another date that will work for you.
What days do you fly?
We fly 7 days a week, morning and evening. Unlike those bigger companies we have a lot more flexibility with scheduling. However, It is important not to have your heart set on a certain day as the weather is the deciding factor on whether the flight will go or not.
How do we go about scheduling a flight?
Feel free to contact us over the phone or send us a message through our contact page. We will do our best to schedule you as soon as we can.
How high will we fly on a flight?
Typically we fly around 2 or 3 thousand feet. Then we also usually spend some time at treetop height. Down here you can do things and see sights you can't do or see from an airplane. You can pick leaves from the treetops, see the wildlife on the ground, and even talk to people below.
Will there be other people in the balloon with us?
Of course the pilot will always be with you in the basket. Our balloon is capable of carrying 4 passengers as well as the pilot. If you would like to have the balloon reserved exclusively for you, we will be glad to do so. The price for a private flight is $595 per couple. This situation guarantees you the best, most unobstructed view from the basket, and the most private, exclusive attention of the pilot and crew.
Where do we land?
We are fairly confident that we will land somewhere in Pennsylvania! But seriously, when flying, the balloon just drifts with the wind. Contrary to what most people think, there is no steering wheel in a balloon basket! So we never know where we will land until we get there! That is why our chase crew follows us on the ground to pick us up at the end of the flight, wherever that may be.
Who are the crew and what do they do?
Our crew are trained to help set up, chase the balloon during the flight and pack everything up when we have landed. Sometimes it is more difficult for them to find us then you may think, especially if we are flying at treetop height. Like a waitress, the crew works for tips, so if you think they did a good job be sure to let them know.
